There’s just something about New York City that gets me every time – the energy, the pace, the vibe! I made a quick run recently for a quick birthday celebration for my guy’s wife. Even though it was short, it was packed with good food, great views, and memories worth sharing.
I stayed at Le Meridien in Manhattan. It wasn’t the best place I’ve stayed in NYC, but for a short trip, it did the job.
The highlight of the weekend was the birthday dinner at Caviar by DNHG in Edgewater, NJ. The theme was all white—elegant and exclusive—and the vibe was on point. The ambiance inside was top-tier, the food was incredible, and the owner herself was super attentive. That kind of personal touch really makes a difference. If you’re ever in the NY/NJ area and want a spot that feels both classy and welcoming, I highly recommend it.
Sunday afternoon, I walked down to Hudson Yards to check out The Vessel—that massive honeycomb-style structure you’ve probably seen on Instagram. Pictures don’t do it justice. I also stopped by the Pigeon art installation, then hopped on a bike and rode back toward my hotel, because the heat and the NY blocks were no joke.
After a nap, I met up with friends on the rooftop of 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge. The views were insane. Looking across the river at the NYC skyline lit up at night, with the Brooklyn Bridge in my peripheral vision, was amazing. Celebratory drinks, good company, and views that memories are made of.
Before catching my flight Monday morning, I stopped by the new Capital One Lounge at JFK to check it out; let’s just say I wasn’t impressed. This lounge has a lot more to do before it’s on the level of a Delta Sky Club or Amex Centurion Lounge.
